Changing roles? Take your super with you

Media release - 21 July 2023

If you leave your employer, some aspects of your super may change. What won’t change is the great service and benefits you can expect as a member of Australian Retirement Trust (ART). Here’s how to take ART with you to your next role.

Take your ART account with you to a new job

You can tell your employer you’d like them to pay your super into your Australian Retirement Trust (ART) account by sending them a pre-filled form via the Changing jobs tab in Member Online. You can also fill in the Selecting Australian Retirement Trust form at art.com.au/forms and hand it to your payroll department or nominate ART in your new employer’s onboarding materials. Stapling rules, which mean your current super account follows you to different jobs, means it’s important that you nominate your preferred fund otherwise your contributions may be paid to another fund you wouldn’t choose. Even if you don’t start a new job straight away, your ART account will keep working for you.

Remain protected when you change jobs

Any Death or Total and Permanent Disability/Total and Permanent Disability Assist insurance cover you have will continue on a fixed sum insured basis unless you tell us otherwise. But it’s important to know the premium and basis for that cover may change. If you held Income Protection cover, that cover will stop and you have 60 days from when we are informed of you leaving your employer to apply for the cover to be transferred by completing and returning our Insurance transfer application form. If your employer previously paid for insurance cover, those premiums will now be deducted from your account, unless you tell us otherwise.

Fees, investments and beneficiaries

Your investment and beneficiary selection will remain the same, but your administration fees may change. If your employer previously paid for any administration fees, those fees will now be deducted from your account. Make sure you take a look at the Super Savings Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) at art.com.au/pds for full details of your new fees.
