Onboard new employees in 5 simple steps with SFO

Media release - 27 April 2023

Capture new employees’ choice of super fund and Tax File Number declaration in five simple steps with our Super Fund Onboarding (SFO) tool, powered by Beam.

What is Beam?

Beam is the technology that supports a range of superannuation applications and tools including SFO and the administration of super payments.

Step 1 – log in to Employer Online

To access the SFO tool, simply:

  • log in to Employer Online (If you haven’t signed up for Employer Online, you can do that here)
  • select the Onboarding tab from the menu on the left, and
  • select the Switch to Beam EOL button

Step 2 – Add employee record

When you open Beam, you’ll notice two tabs in the Employees section:

  • Onboarding tab – holds a list of employees added by an employer that are completing onboarding tasks.
  • Active Employees tab – employees move to this tab once they have completed their onboarding tasks.

To add an employee record, select the Add Employee button, either in the top right corner or middle of the page in the Onboarding tab.

Step 3 – Assign onboarding tasks

Tick the boxes to assign the tasks you’d like the employee to complete – TFN declaration and Super choice.

Step 4 – Capture record

Add employee details and relevant employment information and then click the Send Onboarding Invite button to trigger an invitation email to the employee.

Step 5 – Monitor progress and follow up

Once the invitation email has been sent, you can monitor the status of the request in the Onboarding tab. Employee records are stacked vertically making it easy to keep track of multiple requests. The Status column provides colour coded badges highlighting the current stage of each request. A circular progress graph in the Name column provides a quick reference on the percentage of the request process that has been completed. You can also cancel and resend invites via the Action column.
