ART awarded top Morningstar ratings for all diversified choice investment options
Media release - 11 September 2025
Australian Retirement Trust (ART) has received a Morningstar Medalist Rating™ of ‘Gold’ for all its diversified choice investment options.
This year, ART retained its ‘Gold’ rating for the Conservative, Balanced Risk-Adjusted, Balanced, and High Growth options1. The Conservative-Balanced option - previously rated ‘Silver’ - was upgraded to ‘Gold’, reflecting the fund’s continued focus on delivering strong outcomes for members1.
For the first time, Morningstar also reviewed several additional ART options, awarding ‘Gold’ ratings to the High Growth Index, Balanced Index, and Socially Conscious Balanced options1.
ART General Manager for Growth Assets, Elizabeth Kumaru said the ratings reflect the fund’s continued focus on delivering outcomes consistent with its investment objectives and long-term strategy.
“We’re proud to see all our diversified choice investment options receive the highest level rating given by Morningstar. This achievement is a testament to the expertise across our investment teams and our commitment to helping members retire with confidence.
“This recognition also reflects the strength of our investment processes – which are robust, scalable, and designed to deliver long-term performance in line with our members’ goals.
“Morningstar’s ratings assess investment options across key areas including price, people, process, and governance to give a rating of whether the option is likely to outperform over the long-term2. Achieving a ‘Gold’ rating across all diversified choice options shows that Morningstar has a high level of conviction that the rated options will continue to outperform over the long-term.”

Footnotes
1 The Morningstar Medalist Rating™ is a five-tier scale ranging from Gold to Negative. A ‘Gold’ rating is Morningstar’s highest level of conviction that an investment option is likely to deliver strong long-term results compared to similar products, after accounting for fees and risk. For passive strategies, Morningstar assigns gold, silver, and bronze ratings to vehicles expected to deliver alpha that exceeds the lesser of the category median net alpha, or zero, over the long term (Morningstar defines “long term” as periods lasting at least five years.).
2 The Medalist Ratings indicate which investments Morningstar believes are likely to outperform a relevant index or peer group average on a risk-adjusted basis over time. Investment products are evaluated on three key pillars (people, parent, and process) which, when coupled with a fee assessment, form the basis for Morningstar’s conviction in those products’ investment merits and determine the Medalist Rating they’re assigned.
