ART’s industry first super payments system, Beam hits 1.5m transactions as it turns five

In March, we celebrated the five-year milestone of ART’s industry first super payments system, Beam. In just five years, 1.5 million transactions and more than $26 billion worth of super contributions have been processed through the platform.

Beam, created in 2018, is an innovative payment solution that allows employers to manage super and payroll through one central platform – reducing the industry standard for how quickly super contributions can be allocated to a member’s account.

ART announces new appointments

In June, ART announced four new appointments to the fund’s wider leadership team to best position the $240 billion fund to deliver on our vision to be Australia's most chosen and trusted retirement partner.

  • Lachlan East has been appointed Chief Member Officer
  • Julie Bingham has been appointed to the role of Chief of Staff
  • Anne Fuchs has been appointed Executive General Manager of Advice, Guidance and Education, and
  • Kathy Vincent has been appointed in the newly created role of Chief of Retirement.

Lachlan East, Julie Bingham and Anne Fuchs commenced in their roles from 1 July 2023 while Kathy Vincent will commence in the role in December 2023.

Reforms to Quality of Advice Review to lead to better outcomes for members

Australian Retirement Trust and AustralianSuper, the two largest superannuation funds in Australia with more than $500 billion in members retirement savings, welcomed the Government’s proposed reforms to the Quality of Advice Review in June.

ART supports Voice to Parliament

In June, ART published a statement to support the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament as an important step towards reconciliation.

ART recently launched its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan which contained fifteen commitments, including the promotion of reconciliation through its sphere of influence.

Less than 30% of Australians know the current super guarantee rate

According to data commissioned by ART, 71% of Australians don’t know that the current Super Guarantee (SG) rate is 10.5%.

The survey of more than 2,000 Australians, run by YouGov, also found that men are more likely than women to correctly cite the current SG rate (35% compared to 24%) and Gen Z are the generation most likely to be unsure (29% compared to Millennials: 17%, Gen X: 22% and Baby Boomers: 19%).
